Location - Kiowa Health Clinic - Kiowa, CO
Part Time position .8 FTE
Provides assistance to dentist during examinations and treatment of two patients an hour working independently with that provider. Prepares dental treatment room setup, cleans and sterilizes operative instruments using chemical disinfectants and autoclave. Monitors and maintains any updates on the forms in the dental chart. Take blood pressure when needed and review the medical history of the patient for any pertinent information the dentist may need to be aware of and pass this onto the dentist. Performs the function of child prophys & sealants as a separate schedule as assigned. Makes sure the fee sheets are accurate for the front desk staff. Assists the front desk staff as needed.
Send out the patient reminder cards each month. Assist in the orientation of extern dental assistants and new dental assistant staff in technical duties and answers questions as needed. Works with the purchasing department as needed to order dental supplies for the clinical staff. Will provide back-up for primarily assigned tech in sterilization as needed. Cross trains in the front desk area for coverage as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: High School graduate or GED required. Certificate of completion of a Dental Assistant's Course or a minimum of 2 years On-the-Job Training can be substituted. CPR certified or required to be renewed within 3 months of hire. X-ray Certification (either done in a class or a doctor’s office) required within 6 months of hire.
Work Experience: Minimum of six month On-the-Job training or proof of internship as a Dental Assistant required. One year experience in a dental office preferred.
Cognitive Skills (Language, Math, Reasoning Ability): Ability to correctly perform basic math and reading skills as needed for super bill transactions, bi-lingual a plus(English/Spanish).
Computer Skills: Basic computer skills desirable.
Certificates & Licenses: Certificate of completion of a Dental Assistants Course preferred. X-Ray certification preferred. .
Frequent standing and walking, occasional long periods of sitting, moderate bending, moderate energy requirements, and frequent fine motor skills. Looking at computer screen continuously for long periods of time, hearing within normal range. Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
