The Systems Engineering team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal / Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Integration & Operations based out of Schreiver, AFB.

 

This position will be supporting the Systems Engineering Team in complex systems Integration and Operations support in a Customer led, Lab environment. The engineer selected will be responsible for the integration and final check-out testing of new system components.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Collect system metrics by utilizing existing tools and processes. 
  • Provide support to the ‘factory' personnel located off-site from the lab.
  • Perform daily maintenance activities to ensure the systems are running efficiently, identifying problems, working with others to identify solutions before they become issues and the generation of applicable documentation.
  • Report status to colleagues, including customers and management.
  • Present technical approaches and findings as representative of the organization as a technical POC and may have frequent inter-organizational and customer contacts.
  • Provide problem resolution and improvement recommendations with strong time management skills

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

 



Qualifications

Qualifications for a Principal System Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM field with 5 years of experience or Masters degree in a STEM field with 3 years of experience.

Qualifications for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree in a STEM field with 9 years of experience or a Masters degree in a STEM field with 7 years experience.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must have a working knowledge of Linux operating system and script.
  • Experience in complex systems integration and/or formal system test.
  • Must communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings. S/He may be called upon to represent the organization as a technical POC and may have frequent inter-organizational and customer contacts.
  • Must have an active DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a SCI clearance.
  • Must be able to travel on occasion to other Northrop Grumman sites and customer locations

     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Development experience in a Linux environment
  • Customer relations experience
  • Data analysis or statistical background and skills
  • Scripting skills in a Linux environment including the ability to modify or write new scripts.
  • Experience with configuration management techniques in a lab environment is a plus.
