Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Field Engineer based out of Colorado Springs, CO.
 
What You'll get to Do:
Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customer's organization.  Analyzes engineering specifications and drawings; confers with quality, material, manufacturing and subcontractors to provide and obtain technical information; and reviews production schedules and orders. Examines, measures, inspects or tests defective parts for conformance. Evaluates findings to formulate corrective actions.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Ability: General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
 
Problem Solving: Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
 
Discretion/Latitude: Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Works under general supervision.  Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Impact: Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
Liaison: Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
 


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
Level 2: 2 years with Bachelors, or 5 years similar experience in lieu of a degree; 0 years with Masters
Level 3: 5 years with Bachelors, or 9 years similar experience in lieu of a degree; 3 years with Masters
Ability to obtain Secret-level Security Clearance within 6 months of hire
Demonstrate strong people, organizational, presentation and communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work independently with multi-disciplined teams within the program
J-STD-001/IPC-A-610 Standard Expert hand soldering certification, or equivalent
CFOT® Certified Fiber Optic Technician, or equivalent
Ability to travel between 10 and 25% of the year.
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Active Secret-level Security Clearance
Familiarity with hand tools and test equipment, and the use thereof for removal and replacement of equipment and troubleshooting
Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical manuals, and the use thereof for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting of equipment.
