Systems Administrator and Virtualization Engineer IRES - SAFB
Description of Duties:
The Systems Administrator and Virtualization Engineer supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research & Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:
Administer the operations of computer systems related to operating systems, servers, and end-user workstations
Demonstrate the understanding of how software behaves in order to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot systems
Research new technologies and techniques to ensure that systems operate efficiently
Provide engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development, and implementation for complex virtual and physical systems
Advise on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts as well as performs risk assessments and analyses
Install, configure, upgrade, deploy, maintain and troubleshoot both physical and virtual servers in accordance with prescribed procedures
Operate, monitor and perform on-going cyber activities in accordance with established policies, procedures and directives
Document necessary system build, changes and actions on systems and archives in appropriate systems of record to ensure life-cycle of systems
Develop system administration policies, procedures and instructions to ensure sustainability and continuity of systems
Coordinate and collaborate with appropriate users, customers, team members, engineers and project managers
Provide engineering and technical solutions, as needed, to meet customer and mission requirements
Act as technical team lead and subject matter expert as required
Recommend and advise customer and team on system development, optimization and improvements
- Perform on/off duty and weekend system administration support, as required
This position is located at Schriever AFB, CO.

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 12 years of general experience; Associate's degree and 10 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree and 8 years of general experience; or a Master's degree and 6 years of general experience.
Must have 6 years of directly related experience
Must have 3 years in management or leadership roles
Must DoD Approved 8570 IAT Level II certification, such as Security CE
Must have vmWare 6.0 or higher experience (building, configuring, managing and troubleshooting virtual machines) on enterprise level environments
Must have experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting physical and virtual servers, workstations, and peripheral configurations in a vmWare virtualized environment
- Must have an active DoD Secret Clearance
- Linux/RHEL 6 or higher experience
- Experience working in DoD Enterprise Information Technology Environments
- Host Based Security System (HBSS) knowledge
- Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) knowledge
