FLSA Status: Non Exempt Full Time

Required Travel: Daily Local

Position Summary

Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing a therapeutic, enriching and supportive physical and emotional environment for adults with developmental disabilities in community and facility based settings, as assigned.  Staff will act as a model & advocate for the client and will use therapeutic methods towards the client to bring about changes in problem behaviors.  The primary responsibility will be to provide direct supervision to the clients in activities and assist the clients in building the skills necessary to live as independently as possible in their community.

Specifically, the incumbent for this position will perform tasks similar, but not exclusively, the following:

  • Provide direct care of adults who are developmentally disabled
  • Provide supportive services to adults who are developmentally disabled
  • Teach classes to adults with developmental disabilities with pre-approved curriculum
  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record is required for all candidates in this position.
  • Supervise a social club for developmentally delayed adults

Education and Experience Requirements


  1. High School graduation or equivalent, minimum age 18.
  2. Desire to work with a wide variety of Developmentally Disabled Adults in many different settings.
  3. Restaurant Experience helpful.

Highly Desired

  1. Prior experience working with the Developmentally Disabled population including mentoring activities within the community.


Certifications and Licenses


  1. Valid Regular Drivers License, with acceptable driving record.
  2. CPR, 1stAid, CPI, SIP, QMAP, etc as outlined by supervisor.
