JOB BRIEF

Directs marketing activities which create new church partnerships opportunities, securing sponsorships and major gifts for all core ministry programs through education, cultivation, solicitation, and appreciation of current and prospective churches. Develops, manages and cultivates a portfolio of church to church relationships in order to bring into deep levels partnership with Compassion. Works with key pastoral staff to develop a customized plan of partnership with Compassion.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion's ministry in prayer. Acts as an advocate for children
- raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one's influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children. Acquires and maintains vast organizational knowledge in order to effectively represent Compassion to church leaders. Understands and is able to articulate all core programmatic elements of Compassion's ministry. Develops and directs strategies and campaigns for churches in their portfolio. Generates sponsorships and varied revenue streams in order to meet annual goals and budget requirements for wide array of programmatic needs. Represents Compassion's ministry of Christian child development to churches, denominations and associations. Maintains strong relationships with 30-50 church accounts through personal visits, phone calls, and letters. Recommends and implements a cultivation goal, strategy and time table for each account and qualified prospect. Communicates and establishes church involvement as appropriate on Vision Trips, in special meetings or events and programs. Works to make sure Supporting Church Partners are trained in holistic child development, best development practices and church to church philosophy. Ability to negotiate and influence supporting churches to work with the frame work of the church to church guidelines. Organizes and leads vision and/or short terms misions trips for purpose of cultivating church relationships. Reports in a timely manner to donor churches on use of funds through stewardship reports. Maintains strong communication related to project follow-up and a personalized affirmation program for prior gifts and involvement. Maintains a stimulating personal program fostering personal spiritual growth, increasing professional competence and understanding of Compassion's ministry. Remains available for speaking engagements and large events where communication of Compassion's ministry is required. Interfaces effectively with the President's office , International Program, Communications & Education, Acquisition Marketing, SDM, and all other individuals and departments within Compassion as needed. Submits reports summarizing church contact and expense reports in a timely and accurate manner. Submits weekly reports detailing donor contact and expense reports in a timely and accurate manner. Operates within the approved expense budget. Participates in departmental meetings and strategic planning discussions. Participates in regional and national meetings as required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Bachelor's Degree
  3. Experience in sales, or major gift development, with current giving and/or planned giving required. Pastoral ministry and or experince is a plus.
  4. Certifications/Licensing: N/A
  5. Other Required Skills: Computer skills or aptitude.
